Your Impact

In 2024, more than 1,000 friends, parents, researchers, clinicians, and community partners gave their time, talent, and treasure to further our mission.

Through these gifts of hope, the GFPD:

  • Held the ninth Family and Scientific Conference in Washington, D.C.
    • 275 community members attended, nearly half of whom were first-time attendees
      • 49 families attended
      • 35 Warriors attended
      • 39 Siblings of Warriors attended
      • More than 50 attendees were medical professionals, scientists, educators, therapists, and healthcare industry partners
    • Five countries were represented: Canada, Columbia, Italy, Netherlands, and the United States
    • The Conference Warrior Camp Fellowship received 60 applications and 30 were invited to participate in the 2024 Fellowship
    • The Conference Medical and Scientific Fellowship received 11 applications and  seven were invited to participate in the 2024 Fellowship
    • Warrior Marianna debuted her brand-new, power wheelchair donated by Children’s National Rehabilitation & Specialized Care in Washington, DC
    • More than 30 Warriors and their families attended one-on-one Professional Pop-Ins with several professionals including TVIs, O&Ms, PTs, OTs (and more!)
    • Debuted a new program, Sibling Bereavement Support, for siblings aged 4 to 12 years by a Child Life Specialist
    • Conducted five in-person Sibshop sessions for siblings of Warriors, including a trip to the Smithsonian National Zoo
  • Processed 111 Equipment Exchange requests and donations in our Equipment Exchange Program totaling over $27,000.00 in equipment and supplies to ensure GFPD Warriors and caregivers have access to essential medical equipment
  • Hosted 22 virtual events, empowering Warriors and their caregivers through educational and support webinars, virtual roundtables, and support video calls
  • Hosted the first virtual Warrior Relax and Relate event, connecting adult Warriors from three countries
  • Presented at the Annual ZSD Alliance Meeting in Nashville, Tenn.
  • Welcomed 105 new families to the GFPD
