What Are Regional Meetups?
These in-person gatherings bring families together to learn, connect, and build hope within the peroxisomal disorder community.
GFPD Regional Meetups are designed to reduce isolation and strengthen support for families affected by peroxisomal disorders.
Regional meetups are more than social gatherings. They provide trusted information, meaningful relationships, and expert guidance — all in one place.
Locations
Meetups will take place across the US:

More details and registration information are coming soon.
Why Regional Meetups Matter
Families navigating rare diseases often feel isolated. Many never have the chance to meet others who truly understand their journey.
Regional meetups create safe, welcoming spaces where families can connect face-to-face, share stories, and support one another.
These connections build confidence, resilience, and hope.
Bridging Families and Research
Meetups also bring families and professionals together.
Patients, caregivers, researchers, and medical advisors learn from one another. These conversations help shape:
- Care and treatment decisions
- Advocacy efforts
- Research priorities
- Future therapies
Families are not just participants. They are partners in progress.
Building Community
Along with structured programming, there is plenty of time for informal conversation and relationship-building.
By hosting events in multiple regions, we aim to:
- Reduce travel burdens
- Make participation easier
- Strengthen local connections
- Grow the GFPD community nationwide
No family should face this journey alone.
Travel Stipends & Accessibility Support
To help reduce financial barriers, the GFPD offers limited travel stipends for families who need assistance attending. Applications for stipends are available to all GFPD families upon registration opening. There is a separate application for each meetup, and a stipend may only be used once.
Every family deserves the chance to attend.
